Special teachers will have to pass RTET, says HC
Jaipur: The Rajasthan high court has disposed of the petitions filed by special teachers to consider them for the third grade teacher recruitment without appearing in the Rajasthan teacher eligibility test (TET).
Justice Manish Bhandari ordered the dismissal of the petition of Deepak Kumar and 36 other petitioners.
While hearing the case, the court observed that they have not challenged the rules. On this, the petitioners requested the court that they would withdraw the old petition and file a new one before the bench. Then, the court dismissed the petitions.
In the petition, the petitioners said, “We hold diploma from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCA) and are authorised to teach special children. However, it is not mentioned in the rules that special teachers who are appearing in the third grade teacher recruitment exams compulsorily have to pass Rajasthan teacher eligibility test.”

NAT or SLATE must to clear M Phil, Phd, asks HC
The Rajasthan High Court has directed the HRD Ministry to submit a report by May 21 on whether the obligation to pass NET or SLATE is compulsory to clear MPhil and PhD.
A bench of Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Narendra Kumar ordered this to Swati Meena and others while hearing the petition.
Earlier, it was not mandatory to clear NAT or SLATE for the recruitment of college lecturers and assistant professors after passing PhD and M Phil, but after July 11, 2009, the UGC made it mandatory to clear NAT or SLATE.
In the petition, it has been said that the UGC cannot enforce the rules with immediate effect. The rule does not apply on those who have completed M Phil and PhD before the rules came into force.
The court observed on September 12, 2010, the UGC has said the rule does not apply to those who have completed M Phil and PhD till July 2009. The court showed resentment to the HRD Ministry for not taking any decision on it yet.
