The Uttar Pradesh government, on Friday, announced the schedule of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for the next year. The government order issued on Friday states that the advertisement will be published on December 10 after which candidates can register online. The test is aimed at recruiting teachers for government primary and upper primary schools.

 The Uttar Pradesh Teacher eligibility test (UPTET) will be held on 11 and 12 January 2014.

Candidates having a B.Ed degree will have to clear the eligibility test with 60% if they want to be a teacher in UP government schools.

The Teacher Eligibility test or TET is conducted once a year separately by every state government and the center.

There is no bar on the number of attempts made by candidate in order to earn a TET certificate.

Today the scenario for teachers is good and the salary is lucrative as well. This is the reason why many aspirants are interested in taking the TET exam.

Uttar Pradesh Education board on 05 December 2013 announced that U.P. Teacher Eligibility Test advertisement will be published on December 10 and then the application process will commence.

Reserved category candidates belonging to SC, ST, disabled, dependent freedom fighters, ex-servicemen will be allowed 5 percent marks exemption in minimum required marks of graduation i.e. with 50 per cent marks in graduation they are eligible for it.

Though recruitments for the last test have not been done, the TET - 2014 will be held on February 22 and 23. The last date for the online applications is January 6. From January 7, candidates will get a chance to edit their applications in case of an error. The Pariksha Niyamak Pradhikari, who will conduct the test, will apprise the total number of applications to the government by January 22. Examination centres will be fixed by January 25. From February 6, candidates will be able to download their admit cards. After the test, the answer keys will be uploaded on which candidates can raise objections, if any, by February 28. The objections will be reviewed from March 1 to 6 and the updated answer key will be uploaded on the website on March 10



For candidates seeking appointment in primary schools, the question paper will be of 150 marks. Out of this, 30 questions of one mark each will be on child nutrition and another 30 questions of one mark each will be based on comprehensions and another 30, again of one mark each will test the Hindi grammar. Remaining 60 questions of one mark each will be based on language expression which has been replaced by essay this year. Same sections will apply for appointments in junior schools. To qualify, general category candidates will have to score 60% while those belonging to OBC, SC and ST will need to score 55%, which is 83 marks.

Candidates interested should have a graduation and a post-graduation along with BEd degree. Also, those who have Urdu in UG and PG and have done BTC or BEd will also be eligible for TET.
